We need a MEDIA TEAM LEADER --who will help us sort out the T-shirts & Posters etc etc. WE NEED T-SHIRTS MADE BY SEPTEMBER 15TH 2007
Posted by Ayeshah:
T-Shirts!?!?! Erm - wud it be possible to like have hoodies or something instead? Just something long-sleeved so perhaps sisters can wear them to!
Posted by Sana:
Salaam Aysh
Sisters can wear t-shirts (wear a long sleeved top underneath). Just make sure the t-shirts are baggy-ish.
whoever's making the t-shirts,please check the prices of a long-sleeved version anyways. some sisters will be willing to pay a few pounds extra. and do they have to be black? can we make purple or something for the sisters?
Posted by Ayeshah: Hmmm....i suppose - mite look funny over an abaaya though but should be fine inshallah
Posted by Sana:
yes that occured to me also. maybe we cud get a few extra made that are zip up hoodies, so that you can wear it on top of your abaya. also instead of the purple, wud it be easier to do a different colour logo?

Salam everyone. I hope everyone is well and enjoying what they have left of the holidays. I was looking into the rums-isoc t shirts and have found a good supplier, where the costs seems to be generally low. I just wanted to ask a few questions about peoples preferences. 1) What style of t-shirt they would like: half sleeve, full sleeve, or maybe a polo shirt. 2) What colour they would like. I think black is the most popular one but if people wanted to i suppose we could get different colours to suit. 3) How many to order. I have spoken to the people at the company and they have said that we will get free embroidery if we buy 24+ t-shirts, so im thinking maybe order someting along those lines? If anyone wants to see the different designs that are available the link to the companys website is posted below. www.xamax.co.uk/default.aspAll the best Suleman

Salaam, I quite like the normal t-shirt myself, that way we can wear it over any other clothes when required... The website says the logo has to be maximum '7000' stitches-- does anyone know what this means in lay man terms? Also If any of you feel like you would want a longsleeve t-shirt,/polo shirt specifically for yourself then please say that because we can cater for individual preference e.g. i might get a t-shirt whereas suli might get a polo etc etc..obviously the price it costs you will vary according to what you choose.. here is an example of what the t-shirt with the stitched on logo might look like.. to add to suli's Q's-- would you like the words RUMS ISOC printed anywhere? or perhaps your name? To answer your Q's suli: 1. T-shirt 2. Black 3. I think 24 t-shirts should be more than enough. Ayeshah (the treasurer) should be able to reimbuse you for this when the order is made iA Wasalaam Rashid

AA Is the writing on the logo going to be in yellow like on the pic? Against a white background it doesn't stand out as much as other colors, like green at the top of the page. Oh, and put me down for one please. Dunno when I'll get it off of you, but you know I have waited years for this... wslm NMA

Salaam,
T-shirts will be black iA..It shouldn't be a problem getting long sleeved either..Some people have said they would like us to put them down for a t-shirt but hav not been specific..In this case we will assume they wan't a normal short sleeve t-shirt/
with regards to the logo we were going to hav stitched on, its white (on a black background obviously) with the words ISOC and RUMS written in Orange..Orange contrasts nicely with the black and stands out..the problem with having it green like at the top of the page is that the green won't stand out as much from the black and thereby we run the risk of people not being able to read the ISOC and the RUMS on the logo..
Pink however is a very bright colour and I think it will stand out very nicely against the black, so I don't see a problem in the sisters going for one with pink writing, but I don't want the logo's to be all sorts of colours if you get what i mean...
i.e. if we are going with orange, then orange writing for all the brothers and pink writing for all the sisters...thus the t-shirts will atleast have some sort of commonality between them.
We need to confirm with the T-shirt company that this is even possible tho (i.e. can we order some t-shirts with pink logo and some with orange without ordering a whole new 24+ batch) If this is not possible I think we will have to stick with a relatively bright neutral colour like the orange.
Let me know if you have objections to what I have said wasalaam Rashid
P.S with regard to having the barcode at the back, I thought we agreed upon not having that? It would also be at an added cost and might not look too great either..I think we should keep it simple, but remember we still havnt placed our order yet but we will do in the next couple of days so if you think something might look good on the t-shirt let us know! e.g. do you think we should have the words rums isoc written at the back??

Salaam
Sorry just to confirm can I have a short sleeved T-Shirt in XL. Sorry to raise this issue twice but don't you think that for mums and dads high visibility jackets would work wonders at attracting the freshers that are Muslim.

The thing with high visibility jackets is that they stand out too much. Some might be thinking 'well isnt that the point??' lol Well the point yes is to stand out, but not so much as to look like we have come to seperate the muslim freshers away from the mums and dads etc etc.. I think if we are all wearing our rums isoc t-shirts, with our logo shaped like a mosque , we will be noticed by those muslims who are there yet at the same time we will also blend in with the crowd. The whole point of uncles and aunties night + the iftar is to provide a service for the muslims who will wan't an alternative that night -- something which is not provided by the people organising freshers...so we are actually doing them a favour lol On top of this, I would quite like to wear my rums isoc t-shirt every now and then...and the high visibility jackets unfortunately won't really be as fashionable ws Rashid

AA, Sorry for the late response, I've been a little out of the loop lately with exams - but I am now officially on summer holiday! As for a T-shirt, inshAllah I definitely want one please as follows: 1) Black seems to be the colour with the orange logo. 2) Medium size 3) Can you please let me know before you place the order as I'm a little unsure whether to go for the short sleeve t-shirt or the polo shirt? (honestly the dilemmas we face!) As for high visibilty jackets, I'm with Rashid on this one. Apart from segregating muslim students away from their peers at mums & dads the first thing that comes to mind when I think of one is a traffic warden or an AA man (no offence intended to anyone who wears one either through choice or necessity!). Salaam, Had a look at the t- shirt today - mashallah it looks really good. BUT - the logo on the back should be lower down as when sisters wear it the RUMS ISOC on the back will be hidden by a hijab and so detracts from the purpose of the shirt. Also can't the RUMS ISOC be a bit bigger? Even if it means it will be on two separate lines? Will the option of long sleeve shirts still be available, and can we have pink logo's or is that not feasible? Personally I would really like a t-shirt with a white and pink rums isoc logo. Sorry if I come across as being really fussy btw, but there's no point in us having options if we're all gonna get the same thing in the end

Salaam Ilhan,
the t-shirts have arrived..and you saw one of them. Unfortunately we had to use the same colour logo throughout so we couldn't get a white and pink one.
So the order has been made and has arrived, so maybe we can take into account more of these changes for a second batch if we need it..
Sana was the one who gave us the order for the sisters side, and no long sleeve t-shirts were requested so we only ordered short sleeve t-shirts im afraid.
I'm going to bring in ALL 24 t-shirts tomorrow iA to uncles and aunties, and everyone please make sure you bring your cash to buy your t-shirts!
The cost of a t-shirt is 8 pounds...(after adding VAT and delivery costs and Printing Costs to the t-shirts, we are hardly making any profit by selling them at 8 pounds, so please don't think this is too much lol)
Ayeshah, once I bring the t-shirts down, it is then you're responsibility to collect the money from the individuals and keep track of where the t-shirts are, whose paid etc .....
Wasalaam Rashid
