SALAAM ALL,
Has been a long time since we've had a meeting, what with BSc projects, courseworks, and both BSc and preclinical exams going on...
But now with all of that over, and with the results out etc etc etc before you all go off on holiday WE MUST HAVE A MEETING..
There are very important topics for us to discuss...and it is obligatory for every EXEC member to attend, unless ofcourse they have a suitable reason i.e. resits/ not being in the country.
I request everyone to post up what days they can make it/ would like it, as well , what time they would prefer..and most importantly what should be discussed!!!
Hope all else is well Wasalaam Rashid

AA,
I'm at Uni till August but since I have teaching the only convenient time for me would be a Wednesday afternoon from around 1pm onwards. Tuesday is probably a no-go as I have GP placement each week.
Let me know either way and I will let you know if I can make it.
WS,
Shayan

AA, I'm gonna be back on around the 26th of June (a short break!). I think the best time would be the end of June/ early July, not because that's when I get back (!) but because that would give everyone at least two months to book a confirm events. We really need that time period cos then we have more flexibility and time to play with in terms of booking, which is essential. The main thing to discuss would of course be Freshers events over which it would be great to get some new, fresh ideas and perpective from the newly elected Exec? Come on! So what did you like and not like about the Freshers events this year and the stall at the Fayre? We don't have a Gen Sec this year, or at least the last time I checked, so we're gonna have to sort that out. Minutes as always will be essential espec. for the Summer meeting. So I would say maybe we should have a confirmed date say, by the end of this week (this Sunday) at the latest. Or even earlier? If there aren't many replies, Rashid just impose a date and see what the response is like then. I don't know, Wed 27th June, Wed 4th July etc. etc. Anyway hope some more replies come flyin' in soon. WS, Samir

Salaam,
Wrt time, mornings are preferable for me as I'm working in the afternoons, but I don't know if that would suit every1 so if u just pick a day and give enough notice inshallah I should be able to switch my hours easily.
The things that come to mind that need to be sorted are freshers week of course, editing the fresher's booklet, planning events that we plan to do throughout the year - what will replace the seerah classes which were mashallah v successful? We also need to organise more medically oriented events - conflict week was a gud idea but was something that couldn't be done this yr, maybe something similar nxt yr? Revision sessions - I assume academic officers will be in charge of this but I'm sure every1 can help here.
That's all I can think of for now, oh no jus remembered we need to stress the importance of joining RUMS ISoc (without being threatening lol) and think of ways to attract more members - maybe advertising events thru other societies e.g. Bangla Soc, Pak Soc etc.
OK now I can't think of anything else.

Assalaamu Alaikum,
I am really sorry to everyone, should have wrote a reply quite a few days ago but just haven’t had the chance to do so.
But after having spoken to Br Rashid, we thought that from looking at the responses posted up that the meeting should take place as soon as possible but also giving a bit of notice so that people can adjust their plans a bit.
So from looking at the dates available, we thought that Wednesday the 27th of June seems to be the best date for the meeting and also that it should be in the afternoon probably just after Zuhar or in the mid afternoon, after which the brothers and sisters can go out to eat as well in seperate locations. I am really sorry to Sr Ilhan about the timing being in the afternoon, as some people wont be able to make it and for others it would cause inconveniance to them if the meeting is in the morning, so if you could please switch ur hours so that u can make it for the meeting that would be really helpful.
So for now, I would be really grateful if everyone posted up what time they would be free in the afternoon on the 27th of June or what time they would prefer so that the exact time of the meeting can be confirmed by at least the end of the week.
Wassalaam AbdulAlim

AA,
Wednesday 27th, I should be free from 1:30, though to be honest if I really wanted I could leave around 12ish (it's only a Grand Round after that - not much fun!).
To be honest though, I don't think I need to be there for the whole meeting & I am getting busy with revision for upcoming exams, so please start at a time that suits everyone & I will make my way down a bit later in the afternoon.

Shayan

Salaam..
have got family till thursday the 28th - So unfortunately the 27th is not good for me. I know this is kind of a bombshell...im not sure whether the meeting should be rescheduled for Wednesday the 4th of July or not..
The thing is a lot needs to be discussed at this meeting..and with it taking 1 hour for me to get in, and 1 hour back,,,and I think the meeting should be around 2hrs atleast ...I'll be in for atleast 4 hrs of the afternoon....and it's not often that I get to hang out with my extended family from abroad... So..abdul I leave the ball in your court...
If we have a meeting we should either start after lunch at 2 or 3 latessttt....
By the meeting start, YOU (as in everyone reading this) MUST have thought about and come up with ideas regarding:
1.Uncles and Aunties night -- who is coming - what we are going to do - maybe provide iftar for freshers on that sunday
2. Freshers fayre -- freshers booklets, its editing and printing, Freshers packs from fosis or london isoc, getting freshers fayre posters and packs approved from the union
3. What events we want to start next year-- Seerah Class from the beginning? Life of Abu bakr? Life of Umar ibn Al Khattab? Lives of the Prophets? Mothers of the believers? The After life? The life of Imam bukhari? Islam and Ethics Seminar, Hajj event, Academic Sessions for each term for each year!! , More SOCIAL events etc etc etc
Shall post more up when I think of it and have time,,have to get bak to family lol
sorry again abt the inconvenience wasalaam RAshid

Assalaamu alaikum! Hope everyone is well inshaallah. I am so sorry that this meeting had to be cancelled today, obviously due to unforseen circumstances. I myself only found out a few hours before the meeting was to take place. It has come to my attention however that some people may not have known about the meeting being cancelled, and in fact turned up. This is not really acceptable on our part, and in future any changes in plans need to be announced via email and a note on the forums at least. I apologise to those who turned up today and were dissapointed; inshaallah your efforts to travel in today to help the isoc will not go unnoticed, take care wassalaam

AA everyone,
I would also like to apologise for the cancellation and we really should have had a post on the forum or email at the very least. I know some of the brothers tried their best contacting people but hopefully we can learn from this for the future.
