Salaam
A thought poped into my head this morning(wow what a rear occurrence) that it might be nice if at the beginning of a new Islamic month we could just give a little bit of a reminder of major events that have happened in that month. having spoken to Rashid I know it does not directly relate to the Seerah Classes but many of the events are very crucial events through history. We could start off with todays (22/01/07) class seeing as Muharram just started.
Let me know what you guys think, maybe this is something we can do in the years to come if not know.

AA Ibz,
I think it may well be a good idea to think about for the future.
As far as things stand at the moment there'll be no class next week and the week after cos of War on Terror Week and IAW. The following week after that there will be a class (but it will be a Reading week) and the week after that will be Intermodular Week for 1st/2nd Years so we won't 'see' much of Muharram over the next few weeks in the context of the classes, if you know what I mean.
But certainly the idea is something for the future.

Salaam
I have spoken with a few people and I think the general consensus is that its something that we can probably work on and develop for the future so it looks like we have something to discuss at the meeting tomorrow.

AA,
Just a quick thought on this. It is generally a good idea to make ourselves aware of certain historical events that have occurred during the months of the Islamic calendar - indeed Muharram is one such month.
However, I think that if we were to discuss key events that happened in certain months whilst we are in them (literally), it would disrupt the order of the Seerah classes. It is important whilst we are learning the Seerah that we do so in the chronological order in which the events happened.
Furthermore, discussion about events in specific months would also limit the time we have to discuss the events at that stage of the Seerah in each individual class - we may even find that in some weeks there is alot to talk about, whilst in others there is relatively little.
InshAllah we can chat some more about this at the weekly meeting. It is certainly something that we could consider for future and plan accordingly.
Wslm,
Shayan
