AA,
Mums and Dads, that faithful old med school tradition of adopting a new student into your care...
Mums and Dads is the first point of contact with the incoming students, and we tend to hold it on the Sunday before the first day of term. This ius usually a big meeting in the quad, where the students union assigns the families, and then over to huntley street for a bbq and drinks.
last year, I made a point of going and seeing how many brothers and sisters i could meet. This year, we are planning for more of us to be there, but also to do something with the kids afterwards...
Most seem to agree that dinner of some sort is required. If we take them out for a meal, we have to pay, obviously. other option is preparing some stuff ourselves. if the weather is good, whiling away the evening in regents park is an option. also maybe a tour of the parayer hut/ uch prayer facilities?
ideas here please?
wasalaam,

AA,
just to add that you don't all have to do the same thing with the freshers, you can break into different groups, although most would probably be more comfortable sticking together.
And just be aware of exactly what you do with them, and double check that you aren't condoning something that should not really be condoned.
