AA,
I can book the bowling at Trocadero for Wednesday 3rd of October from 3.15pm (Iftar is 6.41pm on that day) and will let you know when they get back to me. Will book for around 20 ppl over 3 lanes with the £4.95 deal (1 game of bowling, 1 bumper cars and 2 arcade tokens) just like last year iA. If you have any thoughts on this, go ahead. The poster from last year should be sufficient, just needs updating. In all this should be too much of an issue iA.

Salaam
I think that should be good as £5 is not to much to spend. If someone can email me the poster i dont mind making the changes to it.

AA,
This is coming along but Rashid you want me to book this after the meeting but I'm just a little concerned whether we can get the right date/time etc so I'd much rather book it now. I can go down and pay the deposit today.

Salaam Samir, The reason i don't want you to go and book this is because whoever books and pays for this should be a member of the new exec, and someone who definetly will be able to attend. With us being on clinics etc and not on the new exec there is no guarantee that we will be there and be able to chase up all the people on campus for the money... Do you remember around what time we booked it last year? Did we book it before the freshers fayre? How did we estimate the numbers? Someone with time check out last years thread and let us know please wasalaam Rashid

salaam just to ditto rashids point. paying in advance is fine, but it can at times cause probs, cos the union isnt always happy about compensating us. last year suleman paid for the food for the dinner, and the union refussed to pay. then i had to put in a different name so that i can get the ckeck off them. so its best if we avoid things like that.

Salaam
I think another problem with booking in advance is that there is no guarantee of how many people will attend the event. I know last year there was a bit of problem and we couldn't get all the lanes together but it all worked out, sisters bowled first then brothers bowled.

Salaam,
After speaking to Samir, the Trocadero thing for this event has been reserved for 15 people with a £20 deposit under Samir's name. (samir correct me if im wrong)..
InshAllah this deposit is refundable and the booking/reservation can be cancelled as well so Samir booked this and mashAllah I think this was a clear example of someone acting in the best interests of the ISoc..
Samir could you confirm whether the following info is correct regarding the booking? :
Bowling at Trocadero for Wednesday 3rd of October from 3.15pm (Iftar is 6.41pm on that day). Booked for 15 ppl over 3 lanes with the £4.95 deal (1 game of bowling, 1 bumper cars and 2 arcade tokens)
Also where do you guys suggest we do iftar that day??

Salam - i think we should Deffo go to regents park mosque again.....it was really nice last year and the atmosphere was beautiful. It also means we have sumwhere 2 pray Also....if some people wanted to stay for Taraweh aswell to pray at regents park mosque...that could also be nice!

AA,
Yeah all that info is correct, I booked for 20 ppl and 4 lanes. So everyone pays individually £4.95 on the day and we pay for the number of ppl that attends...
I think Regents Park mosque would be the most appropriate place to go, especially since it would be timely for those from outside London to be familiar with it at the start of uni because it's so central, they provide Iftar, have a handy Islamic library etc etc etc.
Any other ideas on where else to go?
So I guess the relevant changes can be made to the last years poster now.

Salaam!! ;D As i volunteered to update ALL the freshers week posters (on the meeting minutes thread, lonnnng time ago) , jst to let everyone know, i have done that, and sent them to nihad and rashid maybe 2 weeks ago, to distribute to the right people, and place on the website. my job is done now. if you need the posters , now you know who has them iA. also, rather than sendin them back to me, i am sure that any minor adjustments you would like to be made (if you are leading a particular event) will be very easy on photoshop iA, so feel free to adjust at will. i have updated all the details though as they stood last month, so they should be fine insha'allah. AA, Yes we do have to be at Trocadero at before 4.30pm at the latest, but I booked us in to start at 3.15pm, so I'm thinking meet outside Cruciform at 2.30pm, we could hang around for 10-15min max, we don't wanna be late, as we were slightly last year. WS, Samir
