This thread will be for discussion and planning for the Evolution Talk/Debate which Br Abir and Br Saffaan have taken charge of. Now these are the pointers that need to be sorted out for the event, so please do have a look and post up ur ideas and comments and also anything that you may be able to sort out from here please do post up:
• The date and Venue for this event have been provisionally confirmed as the room booking for them came through, with this being 12th of February 2008, which will be the 199th birthday of Charles Darwin himself! The venue Booked is the Darwin lecture theatre in the Darwin building, which is a modern block built on the exact site of Macaw Cottage, Darwin's London home! The only downside at the moment with the booking is that, we could only book it from 3pm-6pm as been booked from 6pm-9pm by an external organisation (by a church of England person) and therefore as it has been paid by them we cant ask them to move the time a bit the room bookings have told us. So now the event is provisionally going to start from 4pm-6pm unless someone thinks that wont work and we should do something else, and if so please do post up.
• The main thing now we NEED is a COMPETENT SPEAKER who is well versed in science and can be good enough for the debate, we have discussed about bring harun yahya team, and i am in the process of obtaining some contact details for them. but not sure how we can afford them, as apparently if they are not in the UK out of coincidence of the time for the event, then we have to pay £1000 for them due to their travel costs to come from turkey and accommodation. BUT if anyone knows anyone who will be Competent for this talk/debate, please do Post up ASAP, or let me know through rums.isoc@googlemail.com
• What ideas you all have of improving the event
• What the coordinators want people to help out with
• Also start thinking of names for the event and perhaps brief description so that we can get the promotion material sorted out for the events
So everyone start posting and putting up ur ideas and the progress with the above points and any more that may be required
