Salaam everyone... Basically, i was wondering about the tutorial sessions we have to organize...ive spoken to a couple of other brothers and sisters who haven't passed, and they wanted something not this week, but the coming weekstarting monday the 20th of June for tutorial sessions..allowing them time to revise a bit and prepare questions
I was thinking of splitting the Tutorial sessions in terms of Monday: MEQS REVISITED and Tuesday the 21st of June: OSPES REVISITED....
basically on each day we will go thru the majority of the meqs and ospes available to us, as well as give help and advice where it is needed....
Also i was thinking that we could supply each person attending the tutorial with photocopied revision summary useful notes. For example, i have some LapT style notes that i think would be VERY helpful to people, and thus should be photocopied and distributed.. i know people with their personal sociology notes being very useful, those can be photocopied...other peoples anatomy notes etc etc.
Im not sure as to how the photocopying money will be re-embursed.....maybe we will collect donations from those present in the tutorials or we'll try arrange the isoc to deal with it.. ill talk to the finance exec..
So basically i want your advice....who thinks the above is a Good idea and that we should keep those dates? or should we reschedule? I'd like to hear from those who have to resit...what else would you want us to do to help you? The dates i have proposed (Monday and Tuesday June the 20th and 21st)... are around a week away ... so the sooner u give us notice,, the sooner we can prepare for it..
K, thanks for reading...and reply asap
p.s. If you have any GOOD ideas on what else to put in the freshers handbook, then please let me know...U must let me know by the end of the Summer Solstice......and as Naadir will im sure tell you, that is June the 21st....... i really need your advice and help on this one..hopefully muslim freshers will have alot more to do this year....
take care.....wasalaam Rashid

Salam everybody *I think allowing people to revise and consider questions this week and holding tutorials next week is a good idea because that way people will have refreshed their memories and get in the swing of revising again. *Splitting the tutorials into: * monday 20 th june MEQs revisited where teaching will include how to answer in the essay style required and get more marks for technique * tuesday 21st june OSPES revisited *then we can, on those sessions give out photocopy laot style sheets and some wise words on mcq answering by the older students and close with q/a on mcq If one person pays for it firstly eg you Rashid then we can re-imburse you via collecting eg £1.50 or £2 per person per booklet photocopied, obviously the price can go down if the numbers of people attending increases. What do you think Rashid? *an anatomy dr session can if people want, be booked for the spot and learning thoracic and fnm anatomy *a q/a open session can be also organised for any questions after these sessions eg like a walk in clinic between 2 hour set periods, we can do the same thing via this message board if need be. What do people think? Yes, no? Let us know quick so we can rethink if need be. These so far are what people have voiced, but if you want to be helped or want to help, we still need to hear directly from you, please post you concerns, needs etc so that something can be done. DON'T SUFFER IN SILENCE THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP YOU LET THEM. Wasalam Farah sisters vice president

As-Salaam-Alaikum, Thank you so much to Farah and every one who are organising these sessions! The week beginning 20th June & going through past papers sounds best. I'll definitely be there- also if some one can send an email out to the members list then we can spread the word faster. Thanks again everyone. Take Care, Moush

I am at the moment studying for a PhD in Immunology and Haematology and so if any one needs help in those two subjects I do not mind helping. I am not sure about the possibility of attending the sessions that you have arranged as I have an extremely busy week next week, but if you want to ask by e-mailing me I will try to answer your questions and hopefully provide you with references of books that you could refer to to study from.
My e-mail address is: s.al-sarraj@medsch.ucl.ac.uk
Good Luck with your revision,
Samia

Salam, i think that the revision booklet is a very good idea rashid, however the date that you have proposed for the revisit of meq might not be convenient because there is a anatomy session being held by the people who actually create the spotter exam, however if it is held after 12pm i think that should be alright. Also what im finding difficult is knowing how to structure my revision in terms of is there anything that i should place more emphasis than others.
Thanks to farah and all those who are contributing towards helping people like me in this position.
Take care:)

AA, just my two cents worth (again) revisiting the exam papers is a good idea, but perhaps do that after sessions on specific topics? So we have covered most of the knowledge part, and then can focus on technique... wrt to photocopying, i think the cheapest local place to ucl is ulu, 3p a sheet. but you need a card to use that. The isoc has a card, but you'll have to get it off me sometimes to use it... I recommend going to the anatomy spot test thingy. wasalaam, NMA

Salam everybody *Looks like more people have replied, i found out today that anatomy sessions taught by the anatomists who set the spotter exams are doing sessions this week, one was today (monday 13th), theres one on weds, thurs, next mon etc. *Check your emails those of you who are resiting to find out when and where because firstly you could do with the help and secondly the turn out was poor for the monday session (apparently Ayesha said there were only about 7 people from the 74 who didn't pass). *Secondly the monday meq's revisited session will have to be scheduled in for the afternoon, say 1pm onwards as theres an anatomy session running on the morning of that day. We need some older students to attend that session and lead the teaching, those resiting have exam paper questions and techniques they need to brush up on so..... CAN THE OLDER STUDENTS NOW TELL US IF THEY CAN MAKE THESE SESSIONS ON MON 20TH AND TUES 21ST FOR MEQ AND OSPE PAPER REVISISTED? *WE NEED NAMES AND SPECIALTIES THAT THEY CAN COVER AS WELL AS A MOBILE CONTACT NUMBER. If you fit the bill and can help us help others either post your details on this site or you can directly email me your details if you don't want everyone to know your mob no. etc. Table of helpers so far: Immunology: Naadir and Samia (possibly) Haemotolgy: Samia (possibly) Biochemistry: ? Sociology: ? Any 2nd years? Any Bsc, 3rd, 4th, 5th years? Any doctors? (By the way Naadir can you ask any doctors you know to come on those days if possible to help?) Assalamu alaikum At this point I can't say for sure, but most likely yes, Monday at least. I probably have teaching most of Tuesday though. Also, I would suggest covering topics first and going over exams second. WRT other ppl, the email was sent to the lists yesterday... if you havn't recieved it, maybe others havn't either, in which case i can send again (PM< text or email me... i'll get the message quicker!). Recent improvements mean as of yesterday we no longer have to be in college to send emails to the whole list WRT Jummah, given that Zuhr and therefore Jummah seem to start shortly after 1 these days, I think you shoudl look into how long those lessons last for, and consider a separate jummah after the session, not before. Finding a place isn't too difficult, and we can always do jummah ourselves. I will inshallah start a new thread about the new UCH prayer room shortly. As to where to have them, can we ask one of the treasurers/ presidents to book a large seminar room, like the ones upstairs of the cruciform entrance? If we have a big enough room booked, w can also pray jummah there. if the numbers to the first session are too big, we can always switch to lecture theatres... Also, Drummond Street does a second Jummah at 2pm, but that only helps if the anatomy session lasts less than an hour. i think we really need to know when the session finishes. take care, wasalam NMA

Assalamu alaikum
Pray you're all well, I've got some notes and past papers from last yr that i can pass on to whoever's making the booklet. They're not a 100% accurate but they may help.
I don't mind helping out with the revision sessions- though i'm a bit rusty on just about everything. Seen as no one's doing biochemistry i don't mind doing the FNM bit. If there's someone who feels they know it really well then by all means let me know- i'll be happy to hand over!
Monday and Tuesday r fine with me though i agree with Naadir it makes more sense to go over the content first- so maybe split the session? Wassalam Rayan
