Asalamu alaikum
As suggested by Farah I will be more than happy to answer questions on Immunology by e-mail as I will not be able to attend the session held on Monday.

Salams I've looked into booking a room, for the sessions but i need to know the number of people that are going to come! There are 20 seating seminar rooms available but i need to know the exact timings of the sessions to confirm with the room booking. I know it is goin to be one a monday and tuesday, but let me know what times.
Gook luck again for the exams,
Suleman Treasurer

AA, Suleman, it seems to me that it would be beneficial to have more than one room, as we seem to be planning to cover a huge amount on any given day. As we seem to be running separate topics at the same time, two rooms atleast would prevent confusion due to cross talking. It would also allow ppl to target better what they individually need to learn more. Looking through what is available online, it may be necessary to book even 4, so long as they close to each other... classroom bookings are sometimes difficult because this one person not even in medicine keeps block booking everything and leaving them empty... but this means we can spill over if necessary. Don't worry too much about numbers... if you are concerned, book a lecture theatre as well... maybe just for monday afternoon. In all probability, it will take more than 2 days to cover everything... oh, did anyone find out about how long the anatomy sessions are? thinking about jummah. Lastly, there are more volunteers to teach contacting us on the email account, so more help is available.... wasalaam NMA

AA, how long will we last for? well, time will tell, and some say i could talk for my country... as far as i am concerned, i will stay as long as ppl need help. that means, it could get quite late. Also, i don't know how other ppl like to teach... immunology i prefer to give an overview first, then move to Q and A's, or past papers or whatever. There is little point looking at how to approach questions if the required knowledge base has not been covered first. Also am available later in the same week, and possibly the week after if ppl need it. That goes for any second years out there in a similar situation too. hope that answers things wasalaam, NMA

Salaam guys.... yep im bak.. who missed me? lol... ok first things first.. it seems to me from reading everything on the thread that we are getting carried away with ourselves by over-complicating things...going simple is the solution...i mean i have counted all in all 12 muslim medics who have to resit this summer... lets say ALL of these 12 do turn up ( which i think is unlikely..more along the lines of 8-10 i should imagine) is there really the need for 3 or 4 rooms booked? or even a Lecture Theatre??? And with sessions running for 3- 4 different topics simultaneously? .....
I say we have 2 rooms booked MAX, and have at most 2 sessions running at one time... Split the resit candidates into 2 groups--- GROUP A, and GROUP B....
GROUP A : GROUP B: Biochemistry Physiology Immunology Sociology Sociology Immunology Physiology Biochemsitry Exam technique Exam technique
Basically while Group A does biochem, Group B does physiology ... so on and so forth... and we join them at the end for exam technique....
With ALLLL That planned, is there going to be anytime for going over the MEQs? Perhaps it would be MUCH MORE ADVISABLE FOR THE RESITTERS TO GO OVER THE MEQS BEFORE THE SESSION AND BRING WITH THEM ANY QUESTIONS THEY WANT US TO GO OVER....
this way we can have a good over all look at the MEQ questions from the past papers and answer individual queries.....
whilssst all of this is going on..i will snatch ibz or suli and ask them to help me photocopy the revision booklets at some point during the day..... anyone have any advice as to what they would like in it? ill c what i can do.....
Farah wat do you think about splitting the groups into 2? AND RESIT Candidates please post up WHICH TOPICS u would like US to go over in particular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have volunteers, like abir and ahmir but they need to know in advance what topics so that they can prepare it for you guys.....
k... let me know what u guys think.....tkae care....wasalaaam Rashid

AA, a few quick points: 1. yes, things are getting overcomplicated... but then why are things being restricted to 2 days? such intensive learning never works. Easier to do one topic each day, and probably more beneficial too. However, as pointed out, we need to know which topics ppl want to cover. 2. I suspect that the reason things have gotten to this position is mostly because no one has wanted to tell anyone else that they outright disagree with the proposal of how to run things, and hence there is a bit of a mish- mash appearing. 3. However, there is nothing wrong with booking 3 or 4 small seminar rooms... looking at the room availability, this seems the best option to me, within th current framework. Even if the rooms only have one tutee and one tutor in them, at least there is very specific targeted teaching going on, and not being confused with other discussions. 4. As far as i know, no one else (except anatomy dept) is running any revision sessions. Word gets around the year quite quickly. If other people turn up, or happen to be there and decide they too would like some teaching, then we should not turn them away, hence attempting to estimate numbers based purely on the numbers of muslim resit candidates is pretty unreliable- you have to atleast consider that greater numbers may be there. in summary, we really do need to know what subjects ppl need to be taught, and I think we should consider spreading it out more... it has been discussed long enough, lets have some firm plans please. wasalaam, NMA

Salam! I think that exam technique is THE most important thing to be covering. This is coming from someone that has passed both preclinical years first time round with only a few weeks revision each time. My suggestion is that everyone resitting should go through their papers and see where they have slipped up. Then we can concentrate on those specific aspects. Also think back to what Bender & Brenda have said to you personally. Wrt tutorials, I can be in on Tuesday and do all the PDS/socio stuff. Apparently 1st years don't get any psych questions, is that true? I can also help with exam technique and general questions. Oh another thing, does everyone have the PDS revision guide and sociology notes that were emailed round? I'll bring a copy of the revision guide with me on Tuesday. Wishing you all the best, Z

Salam everybody Wow, don't know where to begin!!!! Mash'Allah theres been loads of responses, ALL ENCOURAGING STUFF! Glad to hear from you Ibz, Suli, Ahmir, Zohra, Rashid, Haseeb and Naadir. Always a delight. Anyway down to business I agree with Naadir and Rashid, firstly its not going to help if we just think muslims are going to come.. remember Naadirs anatomy sessions....sell out right so.. *yes book 2 rooms in close proximity = Shayan rang me today and said that on monday foyer seminar 3 is free from 2pm onwards, that can seat about 20-25 people and if we keep to Rashid's idea of having group a and B (which is a good idea) than we only need to book another room for it to work? Thats where you come in Suli, I need you to find out and book the other room, im leaving you in charge of that and you will probably have to do that through Imran or the current tresurer coz you can't book anything yet until Aug. shayans done most of it anywayz, so by the time u get around replying shayan may have done it all anyway, so maybe you should just concentrate on the tutorial i want you to prepare for c and B physiology. *For tues Shayan has said there is cruciform seminar room 1 free all dayfrom 9am till 2pm and then from 5 pm till 9pm. *Seminar room 2 open from 4pm till 7pm *Seminar room 3 2pm till 9pm*and the highlighted times and venues are the ones ive asked shayan to ask Imran to book, ive also asked shayan to ask Imran if he can book another room inaddition to sem rm 3 for mondays group A and group B split sessions. Hopefully final dates and venues i'll post ish'Allah by friday 17th June. *From the looks of the helpers we have, im going to make another table according to the new look timetabling: group A group B C and B Physiology=Shayan; C and B physiology=Suli FNM physiology-=Amir; FNM physiology=Ibz Biochemistry=Saima; Biochemistry=Rayan Sociology and PDS=farah; Sociology and PDS=Zohra Immunology=Naadir; Immunology=Rashid Can the helpers please prepare for what Ive put down over the weekend so that the sessions for those attending will be BENEFICIAL and not a waste of time. Bring in the adqeuate notes and books you need to refer to so that things can go smoothly, the more you prepare the better people will understand and insh'Allah they can pass. Any queries let me know How was the footy yesterday? Who won? Lol Wasalam Farah p.s Rashid since youve kept a count of those muslim students who may need our help, could you make sure they all get to here about this, or could you give the list to someone (don't post the names of people who didn't pass on the forums) but pass the list on to someone so that they can alert people to those sessions well in advance, tell them the venues and times are pretty much sorted but yet to be confirmed but to clear a space in their diaries for those 2 days at least for now insh'Allah.

As-Salaamu-Alaikum, Thanks everyone for organising this again. The topics I need help on are metabolism & sociology & mathsy calculations too! like the alcohol calculation- I agree that its a good idea that we should look at the past papers before the session - but since there are so many of them - is it possible to say which meqs we will go through so we can bring our own copy with our own attempts? let me know what you guys think.
