Salaam everyone,
I need you guys to decide on a place to EAT!!! lol...seriously though, i've been waiting to send this email for ages, just i've heard you guys are now going to grab some yummy food for dinner after you've done your ice skating! Sounds like fun..but really do need a name, and time..
Shaarifa - Ammazing poster, just need you to touch up some things on it if possibley as i knw ur bizy with neuro.....
1. could you add a little apostrophe at the end of sisters ...i.e. sisters' rather than sisters 2. meet and mingle with other sisters from all over London (rather than other years) 3. mention post-skating dinner at [e.g. simply chicken] ....obviously once they confirm where the real dinner is (if its not simply) then it can be altered 4. i think it would be nice to say ''Rums Isoc Presents..." at the top... in the same writing as the last poster perhaps or anything you think fits and looks nice.... 5. Mention 'You must book your tickets in advance so contact Rums-isoc@ucl.ac.uk' 6. Wed 24th Jan not 23rd. 7. stick the union logo in in the bottom left hand corner of the poster or somewhere where it doesnt look too out of place...
Hopee thats ok, and not going to be too much of a problem.....
If anyone else has any suggestions please do post up...apart from that i just need to knw where u guys are going to eat.....soon.. lol take care wasalaam Rashid

kool, will send u the logo. abt eating places - have done a bit of research -- now somerset house is located near temple station -- now i dont know of anything hallal at temple, however -- i think you guys have several options Temple is on the circle and district line - so you have the choice of travelling east or west.. u travel east -- u can go to mile end and whitechapel ...of which i think if you get sufficient numbers, i can arrange a deal with Pandoo's on Brick Lane..for those of you that don't know , pandoo's are like the hallal version of nando's ....Nando's is halal i hear you say...well theres some controversy regarding that-- nando's uses stunned chicken - dont want to go into it here - but it involves the electrification of the chickn before slaughter to calm it down... a lot of people believe this is islamically incorrect for various reasons, and so eat at the equivalent Pandoo's... We went there for the ucl brothers night out...it was a nice place, food was delicious, and pretty cheap -- £5 for half a chicken and chips, and a drink! but that was cuz they had negotiated a deal with them...as can we.. Secondly-- you have the choice of going West... This shall take you to places such as South Kensington, or Kensington High street where you can eat at some arab lebanese places, or you can go to knitsbridge..and eat at Shahns ...apparently its meant to be famous , and its a posh restaurant...depends on how much money you guys really want to spend....but so far options are.. west-- posh restaurants east- not so posh/mile end -whitechapel for tayyabs, lahore kebab house/ barakahs/ pandoos north- edgeware road/ simply Stay where you are for - covent garden and little morrocon/turkish cuisine areas there that i know of...on the pricey side- serve alcohol, and not that great... ..... hope the info helps wasalaam Rashid

:owow that is helpful. maybe we can negotiate a deal with tayyebs, or pandoos. is that too far for some ppl? inevitably not every1 will come to the dinner though because of timing etc. Ilhan let me know how it goes with ticketmaster-- need to know about: -further group discounts -deposit/paying options -reserving tickets as we wont be booking till the first week of term it may also be worthwile to ring up somerset house directly as they may be able to provide some further concession. sana

Whats going on? lol, i sent the email out, and only 1 person (sister Irhumn) has replied back to me saying she would like to confirm they can make it and would like to come ice skating on the 24th of Jan....
It seems we've got a premature list in this thread up of people who would like to come, but no-body seems to be confirming...
remember, we need confirmation by replying back to the email i sent out, so pleaseee replyy
hope all else well look forward to hearing from you wasalaam Rashid

Regarding the ibsc talk that u guys will have--
they have a schedule usually --> telling you at which time which course speaker will be talking--
to be perfectly 100% honest- it is the biggest waste of time ..ever..i think it's more boring than watching paint dry... All it is, is the course adminstrator- talking abt the course for 5-10 minutes giving u a completely biased view point, and telling you nothing more than what is already available in the iBSc course books you will get (which tells you about all the courses available and what it involves)..
It is for this very reason that we're donig our own 'insight into intercalating' event - being currently organised by ilhan. We should have someone doing majority of the courses available for you to talk to and ask questions-- and it is these people (who are actually doing the bsc's this year) who will give you the best insight into what the course invovles and what it is actually like..
Hope that answers some of the queries-- Thus i would recommend d ice skating ovr the ibsc day......dnt say i didnt warn u... wasalaam Rashid
