AA,
This thread for info on this talk.
Head organiser: Br. Abir (currently 1st year) Title: ?
Details: Basically, a talk on the many different aspects of our social interaction. this obviously has a wide remit, but things like mixing- when you should and should not, and the truths about marriage in Islam should definately be covered.
Also, this is in some ways a practice for next freshers... A talk along these lines is important during freshers fortnight, especially as this coming year Ramadhan starts so soon as well.
I expect br. Abir will want to bring everyone up to date quite soon.
wasallam,
NMA

Assalaamu alaikum, Ok, I can see that a certain NMA has been slacking off and not told you yet everything you need to do for this event. BUT, we need a little more info than what you put up there. for a start, please tell me theres a better title. Speaker name and date you have given. TIME? how long will it last? Where is it? Refreshments provided? I would recommend you get your advertising out atleast 2 weeks in advance... which given the date of the talk means end of this week... And advertising really is what amkes or breaks these things, so make sure you get a good poster made. One good thing about it being a Friday is that you can advertise it at Jummah. Lastly, you'r eorganising this in your first year? good. We need more like that. Well done. -Wise Old Man.

Ok i think the isoc pres has found a speaker, the imam of masjidal towheed. Thank you to everyone that was looking for a speaker.
One of the conditions layed down by the masjid is that he has to be picked up and droped off to the masjid so if any one could lend a hand with that it would be greatly appreciated. The big problem for is going to be a parking space.

AA The speaker is Dr. Shoaib Hassen form the islam channel and he is also the imam masjidal towheed. Naadir with regards to the poster the start time is around 4.15 the title has been changed to integration or segregation, on the poster i would like if there was a heart somewhere and the words love, islam, marriage and social interaction. Thank you to everyone that has helped out.

AA,
hmm... never too happy when ppl are that specific on what they want on a poster... and whats with the name change? i prefered boy meets girl. nice and short words. Any way
the date is the 18th March. the start time is 4:15 (why so early???) Finish time is when, approximately?
Still in LT1, i assume. The speaker is Dr Shoaib Hassan the title is 'integration or segregation?' the words included on the poster are Islam, love, Social Interaction and marriage. with a big heart.
Who is signing the posters? Imran or Junaid?
Ok, posters on their way, but I gotta tell ya, they may not be quite what you seem to have already pictured in your head. Also, I have reservations on the title change and the start time worries me because it is before most people finish their lectures. And I don't think this is a talk people should be walking into after about an hour has already passed. And please make sure you start at the stated time.
Oh well, inshallah it will be a success.
wasalaam,
NMA
Edit: including the question on signing

The start time has to be 4.15 because the shaikh has to be back to his masjid by 6.30 as he has a class to teach. that else the title is back to boy meets girl, lol approximate end time is 5.50-6

Assalaamu alaikum,
ok, I can see that the speaker has been arranged in the last minute (almost) and so obviously you have to make do with what you have, but I have to say I share the concerns of NMA on this board that 4:15 is not a good start time. If this speaker cannot do a start time after 5pm, once people are out of their lectures and have time to get over to the lecture theatre, then is there no one else who can give a talk.
Surely there is a back up speaker? (Abir, you've been told the 'rules', right?) (hey, NMA, how about posting your 'rules' sometime?) They may seem pedantic, but they are generally good advice.
Sorry, not really in a position to tell you where best to get your posters printed. But on that note, is there any way we could see the poster here? Mr WebMaster?
wasalaam,
Wise Old(ish) Man
