Assalaamu alaikum,
Well, I would recommmend finding out how much it would cost to pay a mini cab to transport soemone the same journey, add the congestion charge if applicable, parking fees, etc.
by the way, i recently heard from someone that there was in issue with seating at a previous event. Please don't make the same mistakes here.
I don't know what you'll think about this, but based on the premise that ppl come to the lecture to find out what Islam says about interaction between the sexes, and that the present ewnvironment is completely mixed, consider not purposefully segregating the seating? those who want to sit apart from others easily can. But if people don't know about segregation, then they can't be expected to automatically adhere to it. it's been a while, but i think it's a fairly big lecture theatre, so it should be able to accomodate.
If there was forced segragation so far, then you guys may not be so happy to embrace the idea.
just a thought, anyway.
Wise(ish) Old Man.

AA,
As this event has taken place, you may be wondering why it's still in this section. I will move it to the events section, so others can reference, once the final message is written for it. Whats in the final message you ask? thats where the organiser of the event, and anyone else who wants to (so, yes, there may be more than one), makes a summantive post, detailing everything that happened, problems, ssolutions, suggestions of how to improve, etc. This includes not only on the day itself, but for the whole project.
These write ups are best done very shortly after the event, so memories are fresh, and also so that it doesn't becaome another chore to do.
We sit and wait in anticipation...

AA,
well, more than a year on, and the person in sharge of this event has yet to write it up.
I'm just gonna archive it. I wouldn't normally name and shame people, but as the organiser is named in the first post in the thread, theres not much I can do about that.
