AA, Sorry 4 being so out of the loop lately, jus some thoughts on eid dinner. Its two weeks left till uni starts officially - eek! That isn't a lot of time and theres a lot of unfinished business esp abt eid dinner Salaam I don't know what people feel about this, but If everything is halal then I say we move on and get to organising an EID DINNER TEAM MEETING -- where we can start confirming things etc and concentrating on making this event massive and a resounding success.. I agree with Rashid here that there should defo an Eid dinner team meeting sometime this week. I know there was a meeting just the wk b4 last but this rly has to get sorted. I'm aware that clinics has started so mainly xpecting 2nd+ 3rd years to sort it and anyway this will be a good opportunity 4 the new exec to take responsibility 4 somethin and see it thru (nt implying nethin lol!) Also I need help with choosing a caterer - a sig no. of ppl have approached me sayin they wnt different food this yr, as we have the same thing evry yr. It would be gud 2 try different foods bt it's nt so easy 2 find a caterer as I sadly discovered. If we go with asian food it will be a safe choice, as ppl know wat to expect and know that they will like it, and its cheaper and easier to get. Wat u think ppl? Oh n if there's gna b an eid dinner team meeting there kinda needs 2 b a team, some UCL Isoc ppl shud come 2 meeting also if it will b joint. WS

salaam,
apologies for my delay, the confirmed room booking for eid dinner is:
Wilkins JBR on Thursday 25/10/2007 from 7pm to 10pm
Ideally we wanted tuesday the 23rd as discussed in the meeting but this was unavailable for JBR and hence we had to go for thursday, as we through this is the next most suitable day during the week. also the price change has been notified to the union last monday and that will be updated on the tickets, and i have requested 30 tables and 15 boards, but the lady said that it may be difficult to obtain 30 tables as she knows that theyve got 20 free and it may be that other events may take them up on that day, but she made a noe of it and said that she will let me know. she said this on monday, i will chase this up by firday and ask her the progress of the request. the room bookings that i have posted up today went through on the 7th of September apart from the medskool talk due to the venue being unavailable on the seleced day.
Wassalaam AbdulAlim

At the meeting we agreed that if we commit ourselves we can get 140 people to this event. If anything we should be trying to be even more ambitious – there is no harm in having a full house of 160. (We will only have to increase the food order by 20, and arrange an extra 8 tables)

Ayesha - to sell to Pre-clinical Medics / Freshers Fayre 3. UCL Isoc - to sell to UCL students/ Freshers Fayre / After Jumah
Ayesha will keep track of how many tickets have been sold and will be in regular contact with the above ticket holders. The ticket holders should get the full name, site and e-mail address of people that they sell tickets to so that: • We know how many brothers/sisters there are (to plan accordingly) • We can send out a reminder email a few days before the event which should encourage them to bring their friends too.
Tickets cost £8 for members and £10 for non-members; there will be a reduced rate of £8 for Freshers this week. WE MUST encourage all people paying £8 to consider paying £10 if they can afford to.
Anyone interested in purchasing tickets should email charityweek.ucl@gmail.com with their Full Name and Site/Location. We will get back to them with details of where and when they can purchase tickets. Also details of how tickets can be purchased by cheque will be provided by Ayesha.

Asalamualaikum,
I have contacted Emel magazine and am awaiting their response.
I think we should set a deadline for the exec to buy tickets for themselves and their friends and family. This way we can get tickets sales moving and slowly begin to get a rough estimate of how many tickets we need to shift.
Ahmir being the star seller he is has already sold 10 tickets mashAllah. I say we have the deadline for this coming friday. ALL THE EXEC MUST HAVE BOUGHT THEIR TICKETS BY THEN - as well as paid up for the t-shirts they have taken.
With regards to the Eid dinner: I know I offered to take charge and conduct the Charity Auction and seemed keen to do it, but I think that Brother Bilal (co-leader of Charity Week from ULU ISoc) or Brother Muhammad (President of UCL ISoc) would be better. Do I have permission to contact them and ask whether one of them would be willing to do it?
Wasalam Rashid

1 - i have sold around 31 tickets alhamdulillah. Sister Tanveen is also selling some for me amongst the UCL and City sisters inshallah
2- I have been following up the progress with the tickets. Inshallah we can get the money back if i can prove that the error was theirs. Tommorrow i have to take a ticket that has a mistake on it to Ramesh
3 - Not sure if you have heard but Ambala have agreed to give us 170 Gulab Jaman! lol. I think my first reaction was.....'what am i gna do wid 170 gulab jaman!!!!' but anyway......we already have dessert for the eid dinner so these are the options.... 1.We have another dessert 2.We sell them on sticks at the bake sale 3.I contact Ambala and say can we have the money value of gulab jaman instead...ormaybe sumink else i duno 4.We tell the caterers not to give us ras malai no more.
If you have any other options feel free to let me know inshallah

AA
With the 170 gulab jamans I think we should sell these at the cake sale and any leftovers can be sold at the dinner with all takings to be given to charity at around 50p each. The Rasmali should be kept as the desert following the eid dinner; I think there's a pseudo-consensus that this will be more refreshing after the dinner as opposed to the gulab jamans.
Wslm,
Saj
